EVOC Instructor Course — Fire & EMS
The EVOC Instructor Course prepares Fire and EMS personnel to teach Emergency Vehicle Operator training using the Trilogy EMS EVOC program. This comprehensive instructor development course provides the knowledge, instructional techniques, and program-specific guidance needed to safely deliver EVOC training within a department or agency.
This program is based on the U.S. DOT National Standard Curriculum for Emergency Vehicle Operations and incorporates Trilogy EMS’s 15 years of experience training EVOC instructors nationwide, resulting in a practical, field-proven instructor program focused on real-world safety, risk reduction, and effective training delivery.
Integrated Training Pathway
Instructor candidates complete three required components as part of the certification process:
1) Trilogy EMS Instructor Core Course
Provides the foundation for effective instruction, including adult learning principles, lesson delivery, classroom management, documentation, liability awareness, and student evaluation methods.
2) EVOC Instructor Module
Covers the structure, administration, and safe delivery of the Trilogy EMS EVOC program. Topics include course planning, safety considerations, cone course setup, instructional strategies, performance standards, remediation guidance, and instructor responsibilities.
3) EVOC Provider Course (Online)
Instructor candidates complete the online EVOC Provider Course to become familiar with the Trilogy EMS EVOC curriculum, terminology, and training approach. This component ensures consistency in how the program is taught across agencies. No hands-on driving assessment is required for instructor candidates.
Recommended Prerequisites
Instructor candidates should:

Have experience operating emergency vehicles in a Fire or EMS capacity

Have a minimum of one year of emergency vehicle driving experience
