Description
Healthcare Simulation Educator Program
The Healthcare Simulation Educator Program is Trilogy EMS’s comprehensive professional-development pathway for healthcare professionals who design, deliver, facilitate, evaluate, or lead simulation-based education.
This program combines two complementary courses—Healthcare Simulation Professional Practice (HSP-100) and Certified Scenario Architect — Practitioner (CSA-P)—to develop both the professional knowledge and the practical design skills required to create effective simulation-based learning.
Rather than focusing only on running scenarios, the program addresses the complete simulation education process: understanding the evidence behind simulation, designing purposeful learning experiences, facilitating and debriefing effectively, evaluating performance and outcomes, managing simulation programs, and developing realistic scenarios that produce measurable educational results.
Two Courses. One Complete Simulation Educator Program.
Healthcare Simulation Professional Practice (HSP-100) provides the professional foundation of the program. Learners explore:
- Simulation modalities and fidelity
- Human factors, systems and patient safety
- Interprofessional simulation
- Advanced facilitation, feedback and debriefing
- Assessment, reliability and validity
- Simulation research and evidence
- Quality improvement through simulation
- Simulation operations and technology
- Program administration, budgeting and sustainability
- Virtual simulation and emerging technology
- Simulation leadership and advocacy
- Professional practice integration
HSP-100 emphasizes evidence-informed professional practice and teaches learners to distinguish established evidence from expert consensus, contested findings, and areas where evidence remains limited.
Certified Scenario Architect — Practitioner (CSA-P) takes that professional foundation into applied scenario development. Learners develop the skills needed to plan, design, build, deliver, debrief, evaluate, and improve simulation scenarios using measurable objectives and structured instructional design.
Together, the programs connect simulation science with practical scenario development.
Designed for Healthcare Simulation Educators
The Healthcare Simulation Educator Program is appropriate for:
- Healthcare simulation educators
- EMS instructors and training officers
- Nurses and nurse educators
- Physicians and medical educators
- Allied health educators
- Clinical educators
- Simulation center personnel
- Faculty development professionals
- Patient-safety and quality-improvement personnel
- Healthcare professionals responsible for scenario-based training
No previous simulation certification is required.
From Educational Objective to Measurable Outcome
Participants learn not simply how to conduct simulation, but how to make defensible decisions throughout the simulation lifecycle.
The program addresses questions such as:
What should this simulation actually accomplish?
Which modality and level of fidelity are appropriate?
How should measurable objectives drive scenario design?
How should facilitators prepare learners and establish psychological safety?
Which debriefing approach fits the educational objective?
How should learner performance be assessed?
What evidence supports the conclusions being drawn?
How can simulation identify and help resolve patient-safety and systems issues?
How should simulation programs demonstrate effectiveness and organizational value?
The result is a more systematic approach to simulation education—from initial educational need through design, delivery, debriefing, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
Professional Development for CHSE® Candidates
The Healthcare Simulation Educator Program addresses professional knowledge and practices that overlap with the published domains of the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE®) examination blueprint.
The program was developed to teach healthcare simulation practice rather than to function as an examination question bank. It does not confer CHSE® certification, satisfy CHSE® eligibility requirements, or guarantee examination success.
For practitioners who independently meet CHSE® eligibility requirements, HSP-100 and CSA-P can provide a substantial academic and professional foundation as part of a broader certification preparation plan.
100% Online Professional Development
Both courses are delivered online through the Trilogy Schoolhouse, allowing healthcare professionals to complete the program around their existing professional schedules.
Participants receive access to comprehensive instructional content, supporting educational materials, assessments, and certificates documenting successful completion of each component.
Program Includes:
Healthcare Simulation Professional Practice — HSP-100
Certified Scenario Architect — Practitioner — CSA-P
Format: 100% Online / Self-Paced
HSP-100 Continuing Education: 12 Hours
Program Focus: Educate • Design • Facilitate • Debrief • Evaluate • Improve
